Closing the shop and taking financial losses: The cafe owner’s noble tribute to Brooke Timmins leaves the entire community in tears
A Lang Lang café owner has closed his business after his cousin, Brooke Timmins, was allegedly murdered by her partner on Sunday 26 July.
Emergency services found 29-year-old Brooke critically injured in her Clyde home around 6.30pm and was taken to hospital with life threatening injuries where she later died.
Attending police arrested 32-year-old Jorden Turney and Homicide Squad detectives charged him with one count of murder.
The Clyde North man appeared before Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on Monday 27 July.
Kyle, owner of Morning Ritual, stepped away from the business this week to support his grieving family and will do the same for Brooke’s funeral.
“We closed and lost money so we could be with the family,” Kyle and his wife Kelly said.
“It’s more for Brooke’s mum, who is a single mum and is now looking after Brooke’s two boys while grieving her daughter.
“While her incredible family have stepped in to surround these boys with love, nothing can replace the loss they will carry for the rest of their lives.”
Ms Timmins family said Brooke should be remembered as more than “just another headline“ or “just another statistic“.
“Brooke was a loving mum, daughter, sister, and friend who brought so much love, and light to everyone around her,” the GoFundMe statement reads.
“Her passing has left an unimaginable hole in the lives of those who knew and loved her, especially her precious babies, who now face a future without their mum.”
A GoFundMe launched for Brooke’s children has raised more than $32,000 in less than a day.
