Angry Ginge’s nan couldn’t vote for him to win on I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! The social media star, 24, became the most recent King of the Jungle on the ITV reality show by winning over the majority of the public after three weeks in the Australian outback, but learned that his beloved grandmother could not show her support in that way when he entered back into the real world.
During the Coming Out show, Ginge was seen reuniting with his mum Michelle and the pair were greeted with a special limousine which left the TV star gobsmacked. Seeing his limo arrive for his winner’s return to the hotel, Ginge said: “Bloody hell it’s big!”
Once settled in the limo Ginge admitted to his mum: “It was three weeks of torture.” But then Michelle revealed: “Nana couldn’t vote as she couldn’t get the app on her phone, she can’t remember her password for iPhone.” Upon hearing the news, Ginge quipped: “Oh, cheers Nana!”

Ginge, who beat EastEnders star Shona McGarty and Celebs Go Dating personality Tom Read-Wilson in the final, was then greeted with a winner’s breakfast and began to use his hands to eat it. When his mum pointed out that there was cutlery available, he simply said: “I’ve been in the jungle, I don’t need that!”
I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! first aired in 2002, and in that time, it was commonplace for the public to carry out a telephone vote for their winner, and programmes like The X Factor, Strictly Come Dancing and Britain’s Got Talent used the same method.
Each contestant was assigned a unique number, which was displayed on the back of a T-shirt they wore in the jungle, and that was the only way viewers could choose their King or Queen, going on to crown the likes of Kerry Katona, Christopher Biggins and Stacey Solomon over the years.
But in 2024, I’m A Celebrity bosses did away with the old-fashioned method, and made it so the only way viewers could vote was via the official app that required a smartphone. Figures released earlier this week show that Ginge, whose real name is Morgan Burtwistle, received 53% of the vote in the final three, with Celebs Go Dating receptionist Tom Read Wilson scoring a quarter of the vote (25%) and former EastEnders actress Shona McGarty, who placed third, getting 22%.

After Shona left the camp and it became a two-horse race to decide the winner and runner-up, the voting] viewers gave 65% of the votes to the youngster from Manchester while TV presenter Tom notched up 35%.
After winning, a shocked Ginge told presenters Ant and Dec: “I feel amazing. Honestly, it’s a dream come true. I did not think I’d go all this way, never mind win, so thank you to everyone who voted.” ITV does not reveal the number of votes received, only the percentages.
Before the winner was announced, Tom said: “Because he is the titan of the trials, and because he’s done such a lengthy stint, I think that the crown has to rest on (gestures to Ginge).” In her exit interview, soap star Shona, 34, said she had “learned a lot about myself” and described the show as “a bit of a healing process for me”.
During Sunday’s episode, the finalists successfully completed their last Bushtucker trials after facing off against creatures including cockroaches, spiders and rats. Tom braved an eating challenge where he was served a pig’s vagina among other delicacies, while Ginge had mealworms, rats snakes crawl around his face as he attempted to collect stars from a box.
I’m A Celebrity…Coming Out airs Saturday 13th December at 9.05pm on ITV1 & STV, and can be viewed on ITVX now
