“He was staring at me”: Young mother watches in horror as a stranger ‘executes’ her Tesla in broad daylight!
A brazen and deeply unsettling act of vandalism has sent shockwaves through the community after a man was caught on camera deliberately destroying a Tesla at a park-and-ride facility in Eight Mile Plains, Brisbane. The perpetrator, captured on security footage wearing a hood, turned the vehicle into a target for his large knife in broad daylight, sparking widespread alarm regarding the lack of security at major public transport hubs.
A Nightmare Unfolding in Real-Time
The security footage provides a chilling account of the attack. The assailant is seen meticulously scanning the area before brandishing a large blade. With calculated aggression, he dragged the weapon along the body of the Tesla, carving deep gouges into the paint, before repeatedly stabbing the tires.
The vehicle’s owner, a mother who was tending to her one-year-old daughter at the time, was forced to endure the ordeal through her phone’s security app. The sight of her property being destroyed while she was nearby left her paralyzed with fear. Speaking to 7NEWS, she recounted the harrowing experience:
“I was, terrified, I was crying and I started to feel like I shouldn’t be here alone.”
Suspicions of Targeted Stalking
According to the victim, the attack was not merely a random act of violence. While she had been caring for her infant at the car park, she became acutely aware of a man in a nearby van who had been observing her movements for approximately 15 minutes. She described the unsettling encounter, stating:
“He was staring at me and then when I look back to him, he kept looking to me like in a very strange way.”
The mother admitted that her heightened state of alarm was partly due to a recent, high-profile case in Townsville, where a vehicle was stolen with a newborn baby still inside. Drawing on that traumatic knowledge, she made a split-second decision to prioritize her child’s safety above the vehicle, explaining:
“So I took (my child) from the car and said, if you want the car, you can just go, but my baby is going to be with me.”
Demands for Enhanced Protection
In the aftermath of the mother sharing her story publicly, several other women have come forward, reporting their own disturbing encounters with a man matching the same description at the same location. This has fueled a growing movement demanding immediate action from authorities to secure these transit areas.
The victim is now calling for a comprehensive overhaul of safety measures at major transport hubs, specifically requesting an increased police presence and the installation of emergency help buttons that would provide immediate security assistance. Her plea highlights the vulnerability felt by commuters, as she noted:
“I feel unsafe, like no one was there.”
The Department of Transport and Main Roads has been approached for comment regarding the incident, but for many residents, the urgency for safer public spaces remains the primary concern.
