Police have revealed bombshell details on a possible sighting of alleged triple murderer Julian Ingram following a shooting which has rocked central west NSW.

Mr Ingram, 37, has been on the run since January 22 when he allegedly killed three people in the town of Lake Cargelligo.

His ex-partner Sophie Quinn, 25, and John Harris, 32, were found inside a vehicle with fatal gunshot wounds.

Police were called to a nearby street a short time later where they found Ms Quinn’s aunt Nerida, who had also been fatally shot.

Kaleb Macqueen, 19, was also shot while he was fixing his car on the street. He was taken to hospital in a serious but stable condition.

NSW Police have since declared a “critical incident investigation” amid their search for Mr Ingram.

NSW Police Assistant Commissioner Andrew Holland on Monday said investigators will be examining the domestic violence history of Mr Ingram, as well as his access to firearms.

“The investigation will be led by a critical incident team from State Crime Command’s Homicide Squad and will be subject of an independent review by the Professional Standards Command and oversight by the Law Enforcement Conduct Commission,” NSW Police said in a statement.

Speaking to reporters on Monday, Commissioner Holland – the Western Region Commander for NSW Police – revealed they had received reports Mr Ingram had been seen on a property about 3km south of Mount Hope on Kidman Way, between January 24 and 25.

“Members of the public who witness any suspicious activity or have concerns for their safety are encouraged to call triple-0,” he said.

“We are seeking assistance from members of the public who may have dashcam, or (from) anyone travelling in that area at that time.”

Commissioner Holland said police believe Mr Ingram still had access to his original vehicle but could not confirm if he was still driving it.

He said he believed Mr Ingram was receiving help from unknown persons due to the conditions he was facing after the alleged shooting.

He shared photos of his injuries that revealed a freshly stitched-up shoulder and arm as well as a bandaged ankle.

“On January 22, 2026, I was shot and suffered several serious nerve injuries that have had a major impact on my life,” he said in an update on GoFundMe.

The teenager said he now faced the gruelling task of travelling to Canberra weekly for plastic surgery and ongoing specialist appointments.

“Unfortunately, I don’t currently have a reliable vehicle. My car is unsafe to drive, with a missing rear window and no glass in the passenger door, which makes regular travel impossible,” he said.

“I’m reaching out to ask for any donation you may be able to offer to help me cover transport and vehicle repairs so I can attend the surgeries and medical appointments I urgently need.

“Every contribution, no matter the size, would make a huge difference and help me continue my recovery.”

He also thanked the community for their support during this difficult time.

NSW Police has urged anyone who sees Mr Ingram or his vehicle not to approach him and to phone triple-0 immediately.

“Julian is described as being Aboriginal/Torres Strait Islander appearance, about 165cm-170cm tall, of a medium build with short dark hair and brown eyes,” NSW Police said in a statement.

“He is shown wearing a yellow and navy high visibility shirt, navy cargo pants, black boots and a red cap. He also has a number of tattoos on his arms.”
