Princess Anne is the spitting image of daughter Zara Tindall in unearthed photo

The Princess Royal and her only daughter Zara could have been twins in a resurfaced photo of the 75-year-old at Wimbledon

rincess Anne was the image of her daughter Zara Tindall when she was a young girl, in a rare photograph showing the late Queen Elizabeth II’s child during an outing in 1963.

In an unearthed snapshot of the young royal, Anne, now 75 years old, was spotted sitting in the royal box at Wimbledon with Prince Michael of Kent and his mother, Princess Marina.

The picture was taken in black and white, and the only daughter of the late Queen was dressed in a collared garment and sported a thick headband for the afternoon of tennis.

She wore a happy expression on her face as she clapped for the players on the court below, much like her companion on the day, her first cousin once removed, Michael.

Facially, she looked strikingly similar to her own daughter, Zara, now 45, who is one of Anne’s two children she shares with her ex-husband, Captain Mark Phillips.

Anne is also a mum to Zara’s older brother, Peter Phillips, 48, whom she welcomed with Mark before the couple divorced in 1992.

Following her divorce, Anne met and married her now husband, Vice Admiral Sir Timothy Laurence, during an intimate ceremony on 12 December 1992.

Princess Anne’s busy life

As the Princess Royal, Anne dedicates a lot of her time to engagements and philanthropic work, a feat that has earned her the title of being one of the British monarchy’s hardest-working royals.

Her loyalty to her duties does not go unnoticed, and during a recent engagement earlier this week, she was encouraged to take her life at a slower pace.

Anne hosted The Not Forgotten Association’s annual garden party at Buckingham Palace, and as she began greeting the guests, she was approached by a Second World War veteran.

Robert (Bob) Piper shook Anne’s hand and told the senior member of the royal family  “to slow down” while they chatted about his military service.

Mr Piper, who is a D-Day veteran, told the Press Association: “I said to her, you know, she’s got to slow down. She’s done it for so many years and she is a pro, she knows all the answers before you do.”

Last year alone, the princess carried out 478 engagements, a little less than the 532 engagements logged by her brother King Charles, making her the second hardest-working royal. The Duke of Edinburgh was third with 313, and his wife, the Duchess of Edinburgh, who carried out 235, came next.
