Prince William offered a glimpse into family life during a live radio interview from the Isles of Scilly on Friday, May 22, describing the often hectic morning routine with Princess Kate and their three children.

Speaking with Heart Breakfast hosts Jamie Theakston and Amanda Holden, the Duke of Cornwall admitted he is “definitely not a morning person,” before describing what school mornings look like for Prince George, 12, Princess Charlotte, 11, and Prince Louis, 8.

When Holden asked whether the royal school run is “chaotic like most people’s,” William, 43, laughed: “It can be. Depends.”

He went on to explain how quickly mornings can spiral once school activities are added into the mix.

“If there’s a guitar lesson, we go in the morning, a music lesson, you’ve got to get guitar on the car. ‘No, we’re not taking the guitar, we’re sitting back for school.’ ‘Are we boarding and we’re not? Seeing friends? No, we’re not.’ So there’s all that going on in the morning,” he said.

The conversation then turned to food on the go, with Holden, 55,  asking whether the Wales children were “fiends for snacks.”

William revealed the go-to choice is simple: jam sandwiches.

“There’s a lot of jam sandwiches taken in the car, usually,” William said, before saying that Louis often tends to “leave jam fingerprints throughout the car, which is really helpful.”

During the interview, William also shed light on royal watchers’ ongoing question: What are the plans for George’s future schooling?

“Oh, Charlotte and Louis, because George is boarding last night, so Charlotte, Louis, if you’re listening, make sure you’re on time, please. Make sure you’re not fighting over who’s listening to what this morning,” he said during his visit to the remote island, which included opening a new hospital facility backed by the Duchy of Cornwall.

The remark fueled new speculation about George’s schooling as the future king nears his teenage years. He currently attends Lambrook School in Berkshire with his siblings, but the prep school only teaches students through Year 8.

According to the school’s website, Lambrook offers weekly and flexi-boarding options for children ages 7 to 13, with students able to board anywhere from one night a week to full-time. The school says most students take part in some form of boarding to help ease the transition into senior boarding school life.

In the past viewers thought George could follow in his father’s footsteps and attend Eton College. He was seen touring the school alongside William and Kate in 2023.

However, more recently speculation about his education changed with some believing he’d attend Marlborough College, Kate’s alma mater, whose co-educational environment would allow Charlotte and Louis to be in the same school as their brother again.
